A Haddock alternative: your expenses, inside the POS.
Haddock is management software for restaurants: supplier invoices, recipe costing, inventory, orders and staff, and it connects to your POS. Food&Service is the POS and has expenses with AI, inventory with recipe costing and time tracking built in: one program instead of two. Here are the differences, with the source of every fact.

In short
- Both digitise your suppliers' invoices and delivery notes, match them with the help of AI and keep the cost of your dishes up to date with recipe costing.
- Haddock works alongside your POS: it connects to the ones on its list or to any POS that uses its generic API and, if not, you import sales by hand or with Excel. Food&Service is the POS itself, so each dish sold deducts its ingredients straight away.
- Haddock adds bank reconciliation, sending invoices to Holded, supplier orders and shifts with Haddock HR. Food&Service doesn't reconcile with the bank and isn't accounting software: it gives you a ZIP with the originals and an Excel file for your accountant.
- According to its terms, Haddock is contracted for a year unless another term is agreed, with automatic renewal and a separate activation fee. Food&Service is one plan tailored to your venue, with no minimum term and the final price in the demo.
Haddock and Food&Service, point by point
What each one does, according to what it publishes. The Haddock data comes from its website and help centre, with the number of each source; the Food&Service data is what our POS does today.
| What we compare | Food&Service | Haddock |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | All-in-one cloud POS for hospitality: floor, handheld ordering, kitchen, QR menu, orders, bookings, stock, expenses and invoicing in one program. | Management software for restaurants with three modules: Fina for finances, Operations for the kitchen and purchasing, and HR for the team.12 |
| How you pay | One plan tailored to your venue, with no minimum term. We give you the final price in the demo. | Plans by module published on its website, depending on the documents you digitise each month, with a plan for each venue. Annual contract unless another term is agreed, with automatic renewal, cancellation with notice and a separate activation fee.234 |
| Supplier invoices | Expenses with AI: you take a photo of the invoice, the AI reads it, matches it with the delivery note and the cost of your dishes updates. You can also forward it by email or send it by WhatsApp. | Fina, its AI agent, collects invoices from your email, cross-checks them with the delivery notes and opens an issue when they don't match. You can also upload invoices and delivery notes with a photo, as a PDF or by email.51 |
| Supplier prices | The cost of each ingredient is the average of what you've paid and is recalculated with each purchase you approve. On its record you see which supplier gives you the better price. | Reference price per product, price history and an alert every time the price of an ingredient goes up.61 |
| Recipe costing | Recipe costing based on the average cost of your purchases: each dish with what it costs you, what it leaves you before VAT and its food cost, also by size (tapa, portion or family size). | Dynamic recipe costing: the cost of a dish updates with the latest purchase price of each ingredient, and you set an expected margin to see when it drops.7 |
| Inventory | Stock goes down with each sale, Glovo and Uber Eats included, and when a product runs out the dish is withdrawn on its own from the POS, the QR menu and delivery orders. You do the stock count on your phone. | Inventories by count, waste and stock valuation. The theoretical inventory adds your purchases and subtracts POS sales, and is for customers with an integrated or integrable POS.28 |
| Orders and purchases | What you receive goes into stock when you approve the delivery note or the invoice, with its quantity and price. | Supplier orders from your phone, sent by WhatsApp, email or other channels. When they arrive, you check prices and quantities and a digital delivery note is created.9 |
| Bank and accounting | It doesn't reconcile with the bank and isn't accounting software: it gives you a ZIP with the originals and an Excel file for your accountant. | Connects your bank in read-only mode so that Fina can suggest bank reconciliations. Sends purchase invoices to Holded or exports them in Excel or CSV for your accounting software.101112 |
| Staff and clock-in | Time tracking in the same POS: each person clocks in with their PIN on any device in the venue, including handheld ordering on their phone. The record comes out as a PDF for the Labour Inspectorate and as a CSV for your accountant. | Haddock HR: shifts and rotas, clock-in from any device, absences and holidays, and staff documents with digital signature.213 |
| Margins and costs | Traffic light for food cost, labour cost and prime cost, with sales, purchases and payroll at company cost in the same program. | Dashboard with your margin and the weight of each expense category on sales.14 |
| Floor, handheld ordering and kitchen | In the same program: tables, handheld ordering on any phone, kitchen display, QR menu, orders and bookings. | Connects to your POS to bring in its data: it publishes its list of integrated POS systems and a generic REST API that any POS can integrate with.1516 |
| Sales | They come from the same POS: as soon as an order goes to the kitchen, each dish with recipe costing deducts its ingredients. | With an integrated POS, sales and the catalogue sync on their own. If yours isn't integrated, your POS provider can connect it through Haddock's generic API, or you import sales by hand or with Excel.1718 |
| Several venues | Each venue with its own account and its cash-up report by email. We set up the multi-venue dashboard with you. | All your restaurants on the same platform, with a group view and products, suppliers and recipe costings shared between venues.161920 |
| Where it runs | Runs in the browser of any tablet, computer or phone, and with the Android app. To print, a thermal printer connected to a computer in the venue. | Web application: you use it in the browser of your phone, tablet or computer, with nothing to download. For clocking in, Haddock HR has an iOS and Android app and a clock-in terminal.2122 |
| Support | Every day from 9:00 to 24:00, by phone and WhatsApp. Setup is guided and remote. | Support chat and email, plus a help centre with guides.23 |

- Bank and accountingHaddock connects your bank so that Fina can suggest bank reconciliations, and it sends your purchase invoices to Holded. Food&Service doesn't reconcile with the bank and isn't accounting software: it matches each invoice with its delivery notes and gives you a ZIP with the originals and an Excel file for your accountant.
- Shifts or time trackingHaddock HR plans shifts and rotas and handles absences, holidays and document signing. Food&Service does time tracking in the same POS: each person clocks in with their PIN and you download the record as a PDF for the Labour Inspectorate or as a CSV for your accountant.

Questions about Haddock and Food&Service.
Another question? Write to us
Is Food&Service an alternative to Haddock?
For expenses, inventory and clock-in, yes, with one difference: Food&Service is the POS and has them built in, while Haddock is a separate tool that connects to your POS. If you need to reconcile with the bank, send your invoices to Holded, place supplier orders or plan shifts, Haddock covers those parts and Food&Service doesn't.
How much does Food&Service cost compared with Haddock?
Haddock publishes its plans by module on its website and, according to its terms, there's an activation fee on top. Then there's what you pay for your POS and, if your POS isn't on its list, its help centre warns that your provider may charge for connecting it. Food&Service has one plan tailored to your venue, with no minimum term, and we give you the final price in the demo, free and with no commitment. To compare properly, add up what you pay today for your POS and for Haddock.
Do I need a POS as well as Haddock?
Haddock works with your POS: according to its website, it connects to the one you already use to bring in your sales and, if it isn't integrated, you can import them by hand or with Excel. Food&Service is the POS itself and has expenses, inventory and clock-in built in, so you don't need another program for that.
Does Food&Service reconcile with the bank or do the accounting?
No. Food&Service matches each invoice with the delivery notes for what you received and gives you a ZIP with the originals and an Excel file so your accountant can enter them in the books, but it doesn't reconcile with the bank and isn't accounting software. According to its help centre, Haddock connects your bank in read-only mode for bank reconciliation and sends your purchase invoices to Holded.
Does recipe costing work the same way?
In both, the cost of each dish comes from what you pay your suppliers. Haddock uses the latest purchase price of each ingredient, according to its website; Food&Service uses the average of what you've paid. And since Food&Service is the POS, each dish sold deducts its ingredients from stock as soon as the order goes to the kitchen.
Does Food&Service have something like Haddock HR?
It has time tracking inside the POS: each person clocks in with their PIN on any device in the venue, including handheld ordering on their phone, and you download the record as a PDF for the Labour Inspectorate and as a CSV for your accountant. According to its website, Haddock HR adds shift and rota planning, absences and holidays, and digital document signing.
How do I switch from Haddock to Food&Service?
In the demo we look at how you work and give you the price. Then setup is guided and remote: we configure the menu, tables, printers and users with you, and train your team. Since Food&Service is the POS, the switch also covers your current POS. Before cancelling Haddock, check your contract's renewal date: according to its terms, cancellation must be requested with notice.
